This is what happens when I’m having a moody day and I feel like experimenting with the camera. Take on fully bloomed amaryllis plant, HDR in camera settings, and PSE actions and filters and this is what you end up with!
I’m not sure how well the HDR in camera setting works as I didn’t see anything major change (will have to see about finding a program to do it) perhaps it was because my colors were a bit limited with my subject matter. So not much contrast. I took the HDR image from the camera, tweaked it with some define and sharpening actions, then added an artistic filter – smudge stick – from my PSE and fiddled around with the settings for that until I liked the final result.

Nicely done, Teri. That is one beautiful amaryllis. I hope you can get it to bloom again next year. Just remember the more light it gets once the blooms die off, the better next year’s blooms will be.

It is waning now and the blooms look ready to throw in the towel. Do I keep the bulb in the water as it is or something else? The leaves are rather striking. Thanks
