RED ROSES
Red is the color of the roses you gave to me.
Before I have anxiously awaited
Some overwrought delivery person
Or for you to walk in the door with them in hand.
But this time you pulled a fast one; surprised me.
You knocked at the door for me to let you in
As your hands were full with your briefcase and this.
For the first time ever
You brought me red roses
in a box.
They’re beautiful.

Nicely done, Teri. There are many beautiful roses “out there” but a box of red, long-stemmed roses ar spectacular. Your photo is well shot and perfect for the poem and post.
