“You can chase a butterfly all over the field and never catch it. But if you sit quietly in the grass it will come and sit on your shoulder.”

But in the case of the blue Morpho you can “fuggetaboutit”! Well let me take that back a bit. You can capture them with their wings folded up revealing the brown underside as shown in my preview post, but wings opened revealing the beautiful blue? Hard as heck to capture. They swoop and flutter so quickly and in and out of the plant life to the point you have just enough time to say “Look! there goes one!” and then they are gone. I honestly believe the little buggers are laughing at us mere humans as they flutter at warp speed around us. One flew right past my knees leaving me with a very pretty and very blurry shot of blue wings, but I laid in wait and got this one with a higher speed setting on the camera.
Not the best shot but at least you can get an idea of what the other side of it looks like and how big they are. I could’ve sworn this one was snickering as it flew away.
Still a very beautiful photo! (I’m a WordPress photographer too) Keep it up!
Thanks for stopping by! I very much intend on keeping it up 🙂
wow fantastic moment… the precision shot is great 🙂
Thanks! I had had enough of him mocking me and was very grateful for a memory card that had plenty of space left on it! LOL
Nice capture; those little guys are fast!
This guy is the bane of my existence trying to get a good shot of his blue side! lol
You do yourself a disservice. This is a great shot! He must’ve been something to see flitting about.
Awwww thanks, John! There were two of them who were doing this flutter dance together that I really wished I could’ve captured but as I’ve said….too freaking fast!
TD: You’re too critical of your photography. The picture of the Blue Morpho in flight up the steps took my breath away! Gosh, girl, you are so good! I loved all the butterfly pictures through the rest of the post. So magnificent. Keep ’em coming! ET
Awww shuckins! LOL We are always our own worst critic but I really appreciate the compliment from you. Maybe I should post some of the other little critters I caught moving around then that I thought were too blurry. 🙂
Definitely! 🙂
See……I told you they snicker at us. Great capture!!!
Thanks! Nothing worse than being snickered at by a beautiful butterfly. LOL
I think this is tremendous.. So great 🙂
Thank you for stopping by. Glad you liked.
I can hear the little bugger sniggering away! Nicely done!
Thanks! The morpho butterfly has snickered at me each time we have crossed paths. Cheeky little bugger!
