Sesame Street – Rainy Day
It’s a rainy day;
It’s a rainy day.
It’s raining outside,
And I can’t go out and play.
Why do we need the rain anyway?
Rain falls everywhere,
Fills the rivers and streams,
Flows into the reservoirs
Purified and clean.
Water to do the wash,
Water to drink,
Water is flowing Through the pipes into our sink.
It’s a rainy day;
It’s a rainy day.
It’s raining outside,
And I can’t go out and play.
I guess I’ll stay at home today.
Every living thing needs water;
Every living thing needs the rain.
Every living thing needs water;
I guess I really can’t complain.
It’s a rainy day;
It’s a rainy day.
It’s raining outside,
And I can’t go out and play.
Why do we need the rain anyway?
Water to do the dishes,
Water to brush your teeth,
Water to take a shower,
Water to wash the street.
Water for the forest,
Millions of thirsty roots;
Water for the garden,
Flowers, vegetables, and fruits.
It’s a rainy day;
It’s a rainy day.
It’s raining outside,
And I can’t go out and play.
Don’t you know I love the rain anyway?!
I fondly remember this song from when Frick and Frack (my two offspring) were little and we would sit in front of the television and watch Sesame Street. They mostly liked the muppets but some of the tunes stuck in their heads. I’m sure they have long since forgotten anything having to do with Sesame Street (particularly my son who learned how to count to 10 like The Count) but their mom still remembers snippets of the show. The other day when it was raining and I was in a bit of a huff about not being able to go hunt down this new family of geese I’ve been trying to get good shots of for days now – this song sprung into my mind while I was leaning against the door frame watching the drops fall.
Humming it to myself I smiled at the sweet memory and went about other duties for the day. I love a gentle rain especially when I don’t have anywhere to go and at night when the pitter patter of the drops make for some of the best sleeping. The rain paused for a bit and I went out to the still not planted yet micro farmy to take this picture of my little miniature rose bush. It has lasted since Valentine’s Day but stay tuned; I am notorious for killing mini roses.
I, too, enjoy a nice shower but we have had more than our fair share of those lately. A couple days of sunshine would be nice. And I know what you mean about caring for the mini roses indoors. My home is where houseplants come to die. You can almost hear them shudder as I walk by them at the nursery or florist, praying that I keep walking or pick anything but them. Ask a plant to describe the Grim Reaper and then look at my avatar. Just sayin…
But I thought the reaper held a scythe and not a wine glass 😉 If it could only rain at night when most are sleeping and then sun for the daytime.
you have a very good memory, i went through countless years of sesame street and all i can remember is “One of these things is not like The Other” NOOOOO. Now it will be stuck in my head all day!!! Look what you did miss T! c
Yeah? Well how about this one….”C is for cookie that’s good enough for me, C is for cookie….” LOL I’m adding to the mayhem! t
I agree, rain at night is the best for sleeping. But on the other hand, rain during the day is good for sleeping also except too many naps and nothing ever gets done. Nice close-up! I think you’re likin’ the macro!!!
Ya think so? 😉 It is addictive I’m afraid.
Love those drops! Bert and Ernie were my favorites!
Thanks..and in honor of your favorites “Rubber ducky you’re the one, you make bath time so much fun….” I’m on a roll here folks! LOL
i love being inside and watching a good rain, but when it comes day after day, it gets depressing to me
Oh I agree with you! A bit of rain and then the sun shining through again is my idea of the best sort of raining.
TD: Your photography ministers to me in such a deep way. I love the rain on leaves. So awesome. Also, can I ask a silly question? How do you get your signature (which is perfect penmanship, by the way) on all your pictures? I want to do the same for WW’s pictures.
Anyway, your pics are lovely, as always.
Psssst…it’s a watermark I created in Photoshop 🙂 And I am amazed and humbled and happy that my photography reaches you the way it does. Sometimes I just think I’m putting out pablum. I’m my own worst critic.
I’ll tell WW, and by the way, your work is awesome so keep at it!
I love the words to the song….
It is a cute little ditty! Thanks for visiting
