You are on a Caribbean island souvenir shopping and the skies turn dark and threatening opening up and unleashing so much rain and wind you begin to think “So this is what a precursor to a hurricane might look like? Where’s the guy from the Weather Channel flopping around?” What do you do? You soggily hail a cab and tell them to drop you off at the pub for a pie and a pint! Oh sure we could’ve gone straight to the condo but we were hungry. Makes all the sense in the world, right? We had been to the Triple Crown before for lunch on a less soggy day and while they no longer made a steak and kidney pie (which did not make DH happy) they did have other pies like steak and mushroom and chicken and ham. Plus, they made a right wicked ploughman’s lunch which I happily devoured.
Our first time there we ate at a booth but on our soggy day we sat at the bar like the rest of the locals and enjoyed watching the game on the TV drying out before heading back into the storm getting soaked to the bone again. What were we thinking? Silly tourists! Eh, rain happens and we had a washer and dryer in the unit where we were staying.
Ploughman’s lunch and Steak and something or other pie
Ham and chicken pie and part of a pint 🙂
this looks tasty 🙂
Oh it was! It was! And the pint wasn’t half bad either.
Oh man am I hungry now…and thirsty!!! Really great shots of the lunch too, especially the first one. I like the perspective/angle you used!!!
Thanks! I was surprised how well it turned out myself. I had to stop DH from forking his pie so I could take the shot 🙂
Both meals look wonderful! And what’s a ‘little’ rain to an adventure! 🙂
LITTLE????? LOL
Hmm … Caught in the rain on a tropical island.
I need to go to a store and it’s raining … and cold enough that I’m going to need a coat and may even need to put some heat on in the car to keep the windows from fogging up. I’d love a nice walk in the rain among the palms. The closest I’ll get is a mad dash through Target’s parking lot.
When it was softer rain without the major wind it was fun to walk in and even splash in the ocean but this day? Only nice part was being together and the pie and pint! Wellies would’ve been highly appreciated that day
that ploughman’s lunch looks so gooood! Great photos.
I am so going to try and replicate it, but finding the cheese might be difficult. I forgot to photo the plate of crusty bread slices that went with it; in too much of a hurry to chow down 🙂
Like the ploughman’s lunch… is that thin slices of apples or a sort of cheese?
Let’s see…Branston Pickles (yum) pickled onions, good chunks of ham and cheese, a side bit of salad there (didn’t take a snap of the crusty bread) and yes, those are apple slices. Thanks for visiting.
