The way I was positioning myself in order to get some of these shots, all that was missing was Dudley Do-Right, Snidely Whiplash, and some rope. I was actually laying on the tracks! Mental note to self: as part of a photographers field kit include something to lay on to prevent getting grubby and a scrunchie to keep hair out of face and lens. DH was standing watch to make sure no other trains were coming (one had JUST passed) and that I wasn’t in a position to get struck by any errant cars that were going through the railroad crossing behind me. I could feel the vibrations of their driving past and didn’t dare look as my view would’ve been eye to tire.
I can only imagine what the passers by were thinking – then again maybe I shouldn’t.
In this last shot you can see a bit of the sky and clouds reflected in the rail.
