The way I was positioning myself in order to get some of these shots, all that was missing was Dudley Do-Right, Snidely Whiplash, and some rope. I was actually laying on the tracks! Mental note to self: as part of a photographers field kit include something to lay on to prevent getting grubby and a scrunchie to keep hair out of face and lens. DH was standing watch to make sure no other trains were coming (one had JUST passed) and that I wasn’t in a position to get struck by any errant cars that were going through the railroad crossing behind me. I could feel the vibrations of their driving past and didn’t dare look as my view would’ve been eye to tire.
I can only imagine what the passers by were thinking – then again maybe I shouldn’t.
In this last shot you can see a bit of the sky and clouds reflected in the rail.
I love photos of train tracks, there’s something so infinite about them. Such a symbol of a journey. Thank you for sharing your shots!
You are most welcome. Thanks for stopping by. I look at them and wonder where they begin and end.
Oh, the things we do to “get that shot”!! Wonderful images, and I love the reflections in the rails! 🙂
Thanks! You are so correct abut the things we do for “that shot!” LOL
No matter how great the photo, you should know better than to play amongst the train tracks, Nell. What would your dad, Inspector Fenwick, say?
YES!!!! He got it! Oh he is used to me hanging about the tracks, that’s why Dudley DH is always close by 😉
Very cool photos!!! Love that you got down really really low and also that you got the reflections!
I didn’t even notice the reflections till I uploaded the pics. I was just so in the moment.
