Hey! Keep those opinions to yourself now! I see the grin on your faces. The post title refers to yet another song (I’m on a roll here people) but this one goes waaaaaayyyyy back for me. As a matter of fact it goes back to my elementary school days. Those carefree days of crayons and pencils and learning how to print the alphabet on those big sheets of lined paper….and music class.
Back then music class was mostly a lady coming into our class with some bigger boys from the upper grades helping her to roll in that old upright piano and teaching us all of these cute little songs once a week. I looked forward to music class because it was fun and there was no homework. One song that was taught to us was The Nut Song which since then I have learned has many different versions. I think part of the change was in order to be “politically correct” – whatever. Maybe some of you sang this in school or at camp. What was your version like?
I’m a Nut
I’m a little acorn nut
Lying on the cold, cold ground.
Everybody steps on me.
That is why I’m nuts (cracked) you see.
I’m a nut. Click! Click!
I’m a nut. Click! Click!
I’m crazy…..
Called myself up on the phone
Just to see if I was home.
Asked myself out on a date.
Said to be ready about half past eight.
I’m a nut . . .
So anyway, when I was walking to my car in a business parking lot I happened upon a – wait for it – oak tree with a lot of acorns lying on the ground around it. Immediately this song and little me singing it came right back into my head and I started to sing what I could remember of it softly as I took this picture with my camera and Instagram.
You are truly an artistic woman!
Thank you! I try 🙂
I remember that song!! We sang “I’m a little acorn round; lying on the cold cold ground. Someone came and stepped on me that is why I’m cracked you see. I’m a nut nut nut nut nut nut nut I’m a nut nut nut nut nut nut nut I’m a nut nut nut nut nut nut nut; I’m crazy! Fun fun!!
But not as fun as “I wish I were a little English sparrow….” 😀
That song I don’t know but glad to see someone else recalled the nut song.
I love that song! My kids used to sing it.. it’s so catchy. I think it’s great how a song or piece of music never leaves us.. no matter how many years go by!
Some memories are just deeply embedded into our minds, what can I say! I was just singing a cartoon theme song the other day LOL
Nope. No recollection of the song whatsoever and I’m kinda glad. I’m heading to bed in a couple minutes and the last thing I need is to have a “nut song” on infinite loop in my head. Nice try, Teri! 🙂
Darnit!!!!!!
