Birdhouse of summer past

I was born in the summer, I am a child of the sun sign, I am happiest when the sky is sunny and blue and warms my skin.  Having said that I am truly envious of you who live in areas that are currently experiencing summer or are at least warmer with plants blooming and the landscape turning greener.  Oh sure summer can be a cruel mistress too with temps that are too darn high but I ramble.  This cute little birdhouse is from the backyard of a friends house in Galena, Ohio.  I needed to see something to remind me that warmer days and greener plants are just around the corner so I decided to tinker with the image to enhance the idea of warmth and sun.

Next, there was some levels adjustments and a bit of define and sharpen before I added the texture layer on top of the birdhouse.  I used the vivid light blending mode at 24%  which resulted in a pretty good image but I really wanted to convey  summer haze and light so I bumped the brightness up to 3 and the contrast to 19 which gave me the look I was going for.  Now if only Spring would show up…..

Nicely done with one of my most favorite texture of Kim’s! Love that birdhouse, and just seeing all that green behind it does make me long for spring … we’re getting more snow here this week, still I don’t mind because I do love winter! 🙂 I’m visiting from Kim’s site today. Have a great weekend!
