Yesterday the weather was just about ideal for going for a walk in the woods (read: local big park); not too hot, not too windy, and the bugs weren’t out in full force yet – but the gnats were a pain. So we hoofed our way through Highbanks Metro Park to get some fresh air and exercise…and this is some of what we saw along the way.
Chippy and all of his cuteness:
A strange and very bright green bug (DH wondered if it was this color to blend in or to say don’t eat me I taste nasty)
And the Eeeeekkk! (No I did not scream like a little girl, I yelled snake! Pointed and then took photos from a distance until he crossed the road. DH offered to pick it up so I could touch it and get a closer shot. I told him he must want to sleep on the sofa for all eternity)
Shame poor harmless snake just trying to get away from the horrible people… you should have picked it up and become friends…
He was busy hauling scale so I didn’t wish to disturb it (EVER!)
Since we moved to temp housing we haven’t seen any chippies. Puppies are bummed cause of that. I’ve seen the green beetles before. Amazing color! You should be honored for seeing the snake. Not many folks get to see them even if sofa sleeping is the result of wanting to handle them.
I will get back to you on the honored part. But I was tempted to let him pick it up so I could get a close-up shot 🙂
Not a huge fan of snakes myself….I’ve seen plenty. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bug like that green one….very unique. And the chipmunks are always way too cute. I love watching them and their busy work.
I would jump when I would hear the leaves rustle and then stop to watch the little guys go scampering about.
I’m not usually a fan of bugs, but the color of this one makes me think he’s a friendly bug:). But that snake… I would be saying eek as well!
I don’t know. In nature the bolder the color the badder the critter. It was an interesting moment watching it just crawl on by.
And here I thought you had seen a giant spider but an itty bitty snake? Sheesh!
🙂
Itty bitty??? That thing was the size of a buick! Ok, maybe a mini cooper 😉
