On the pond in Papago Park – Phoenix,Az.

There were so many ducks here and two momma ducks with their babies swimming around.  Everyone who came to the area wanted to feed the ducks and the ducks were waiting impatiently for them to get with the feeding!  The ducks would come close enough or sit still long enough for you to feed them something but if you didn’t or took too long with the food, they flapped their tail feathers at you and swam off.  Only the momma ducks didn’t come close at all for the snacks.

Let's see how far we can go without mom.

Not very far...

Not very far…

Oh, you again.

Oh, you again.

Yes, I do have a handsome profile don't I?

These photos were taken by my loyal (and loveable) sherpa who is now occasionally using my older Canon T2i camera.  I am proud to say he is getting very good with it and the 70-300mm lens 🙂

Lovely captures… enjoyed the commentary as well.. maybe I should just send my photos to you and you add the comments…

  2. Nice! My mother lives on a canal and has a mama and 4 baby ducks swimming around. My granddaughter and I tried to feed them the other day, but mama was too nervous and wouldn’t let her babies come to get the bread – she led them off the other way. Maybe they came back later and got the bread if the turtles and fish didn’t eat it first.

These mother ducks were very protective of their broods…like momma’s should be 🙂 I’m sure that like yours they came back later for some crumbs.

Nice shots, Teri. Lincoln Park Zoo had a mini-wetland area where ducks of all kinds could be found, some just passing through on their migration. I could sit for hours watching them.

Had as in they don’t anymore? 😦 I wonder if these ducks were just passing through as well.
