This weekend here in the states is Labor Day weekend; first recognized in 1894 and every first Monday in September since. It is a federal holiday which means a lot of us get the day off with pay; a three day weekend! Woot! It is meant to celebrate the economic and social contributions of workers. It also sadly marks the unofficial end of summer.
I’m not quite ready to give up summer yet and have no idea what we are going to do this weekend other than eat some traditional summer foods like barbeque, potato salad and slaw with some peach ice cream for desert. But truth be told, I’d rather be at the beach like I was when these pictures were taken at Manchester by the Sea, Massachusetts (more about that lovely town in a future post). Have a great weekend everyone and be careful if you are driving or boating.
Yea… spring is on the way… sorry for your winter which is returning, but we need some heat…
Hey! Don’t rush us back into the frigid! We’ve got a bit of summer left and then fall. I will not go peacefully into that coldness but I’m glad warm will be returning to you.

Great perspective. Like every holiday, many only know it’s an extra day off. The history or reason behind it is lost in out rush.
Never forget the laborers ….. bc that the reason we have this day.
End of summer means cooler temperatures … yay!
The cycle will continue …. there’s no stopping the “sands of time!
Reblog … It is what it is!!
So many holidays have lost their original true meaning to time off and commercialism but as you said – it is what it is. Thanks for commenting and reblog. A bit cooler temps is ok.
Anytime …. same here!! 🙂

I’m not ready either, Teri. Summer won’t end for 3 more weeks. Let’s not rush things.
Just 3 more weeks?????????? I was hoping for longer – wahhhhhhhhhh!
Enjoy the time off and the warm summer temps! Cool photos too!
It has been darn right hot the past few days which would be wonderful if I were near an ocean. I miss the ocean. This beach town was amazing.
Enjoy…BTW I don’t get paid to be off so kinda wish the site was open!
Boo!!! No pay…but I am sure you will enjoy relaxing by your pool 🙂
