Wakey wakey…

One sign of a devoted hobbyist or professional photographer is that they will do just about whatever it takes to get “THE” shot.  That may involve inclement weather, waiting out something or someone, getting grubby, taking many many shots, going back multiple times to a site, getting up very early, or staying up very late.  In the case of this shot it took me three days of trying before I got this and others on that day.  We stayed at a hotel on the southernmost end of Key West,  where if positioned just so on the beach or pier you would be privy to sunrises and sunsets depending on if your faced left or right – sweet, huh?

So I got out the phone app (there’s an app for everything don’t you know) to find out the times for sun up and sun down and got myself up every morning before sunrise to jockey for a position.  The first few days were too cloudy for the sunrise but made for some great golden hour photos of other things.  But on the third day I got up and out and along with a bunch of other devoted souls was gifted with the wonderful scene of the sun coming up over the edge of the earth, errrr, I mean over the edge of the Atlantic ocean.

I was very thankful to have another day of life blessed with such a beautiful beginning.
