Our first day in Key West last December was an interesting one. We had just come from 28 degree weather with snow and ice to walking off an airplane onto the tarmac and into heat and humidity… and then a quick tropical downpour! After the initial shock to our internal thermostats, we changed into proper warm weather attire once we arrived at our hotel. It was then time to go look for something to eat because we all know what they give you on flights – not much. We wandered down Duval St. on my quest for seafood because I was determined to eat nothing but seafood our entire stay. After all it was going to be really fresh considering we were right there where they caught it.
We picked this place where we had some conch fritters, grouper nuggets, and blue crab claws. Tasty food, great service, and the view from their balcony must be awesome when things are popping on Duval. But you must admit their interior decor is – ahem – colorful. I wouldn’t mind being on that balcony this weekend 😉
Have a great weekend everyone.
I love it!! It’s so fun and colorful…just like the Key West! There is nothing like coming from below freezing temps to the thermostat shock of actual warm weather! I’d take it right about now, too!! 😀 –Lisa
For a moment I thought I was going to burst into flames until the body adjusted. Then I got chilly when the temps dropped to 70! LOL
This is one of my very favorite things about Key West…all the color…can’t get enough of it. Thanks for sharing these cute pics.
You are welcome. Their color was in sharp (and much welcomed) contrast to all that is cold and wintery up North.
Love it…..the more color the better. Sounds fun 🙂
It was quiet when we went in for lunch but later on in the evening when we walked past it was a bit busier 😉 I love that just about everything down there was colorful.
I LOVE Conch Salad and now I’ll be dreaming about it all weekend!!!! So glad you and hubby had a chance to get away on a relaxing vacation.
We had the conch fritters but I really fell in love with the grouper nuggets. Good eats!!!!!
All this key west talk, I need to go there!
It’s wild! And fun to visit.
Sounds like you had a great time! Key West is one of my favorite places! I just love how everyone is so laid back. It feels like a Caribbean island without actually leaving the US. I am obsessed with the conch fritters! 🙂
Yes, we had a grand time and it was like being on one of the islands w/o needing my passport. I fell in love with the grouper nuggets – yummo!
I loooooooooved Key West when I went in college! I think I need to add it to my list of places to vacation soon. Maybe it’s just the cold winter we’re having in NC right now, but I am craving something tropical!!!
I’d gladly trade my zero weather for the Keys and 60’s and 70’s. It is a great place to visit.
