The Postman Butterfly, Common Postman, or simply Postman[1] (Heliconius melpomene) is one of the heliconiine butterflies found from Mexico to northern South America.[2] Several species in the genus have very similar markings and are difficult to distinguish. This is an example of mimicry.Β wikipedia.org
I wonder if it meant to have all of this pollen on it’s tongue and did it make him sneeze or talk funny? π
Lovely image!!
I wouldn’t worry about the butterfly if that is your tongue, those spots would be a tad more concerning!! π π
Thank you. Wouldn’t they though? LOL
That’s a great capture…
Gracias π
GORGEOUS! I can’t believe you got that pollen on his tongue (or whatever that part is). You amaze me!! Just lovely
Thank you π I looked it up and although it is it’s tongue it’s called a proboscis which is another word for nose (I think) so there ya go! LOL
Excellent photo Teri!
Thank you π
Beautiful! I miss the butterflies and the hummingbirds this time of year. They are smarter than me and venture to warmer places.
Thank you. I miss them too so whenever and wherever I get a chance to see them in a conservatory I run for it!!!
