I barely recall what they told me this lovely was at the conservatory in Key West other than Poseidon something from New Guinea. I was going to leave it at that until I happened to be watching a television show a little while after returning home. It was Sir David Attenborough who was listing his picks of the 10 endangered animals he would save on his Ark. Guess what one of the creatures was? That’s right! This butterfly. That is when I pointed at the TV and yelled “I’ve got photos of that!” DH gave me an odd look until he realized what I was going on about.
Thing is, Sir David, who is the President of the Butterfly Trust, called it a Priam’s Birdwing. Priam’s or Poseidon, which one is it? It doesn’t really matter to me (much) as it was the first time I had ever seen this type of butterfly and I totally agree with Sir David who said “it is an exquisite beauty that lifts the heart”.

Loving these photos of the flutterbys…
Glad you are but alas, this is this last one…at least for now.
Zowee you’ve gotten some superb photos in this series!!! You are right…this one is a beauty!
It took me the longest and a lot of patience to finally get this shot. The thing was hyper for the longest time when finally it slowed down for this 🙂
I agree with dhphotosite: this series of butterfly photos is absolutely superb.
Thank you so much 🙂
Yes, I love the beauty of the butterfly.
I adore nature 🙂 Well not winter nature…
I know…do you believe it was snowing again this afternoon?
Wow that is beautiful!!! Great photography skills to capture the details and vivid colors!
Thank you 🙂
🙂 :-).. At least you didn’t start jumping up and down on the bed:-). That is a very beautiful butterfly no matter the name.
I was somewhat reserved 😉 Thank you.
That is absolutely STUNNING! :)-Ashley
Thank you. This darling stopped me in my tracks when it fluttered past my head.
No wonder this is your favorite butterfly! It’s spectacular. Those YELLOWS, WOW!! –Lisa

Glamorous creature! And the butterfly you so perfectly photographed, too!
Awwww shuckins 🙂
The yellows are gorgeous and catch my eyes,
