Zion’s Magical Weather and Some Fog/Snow Photo Tips

Today is yet another day that says spring is not here yet. The weather report is saying upwards of 6 maybe 8 inches of snow with possibly a smattering of ice as a chaser. I am sure I am not alone in saying ENOUGH! At this point in time I would be quite satisfied with weather that while not spring like at least it would stay consistently over freezing.

I even saw the remnants of when the river was frozen and high still clinging to the trunks of trees in ice rings now that the water has defrosted some and gone down; leaving the river filled with chunky icy water. Weirdest winter weather thing I have ever seen.

So I will not be posting anything of my own today but wanted to share with you a post (with some photo tips) from a local photographer who I absolutely admire and envy with what he gets to photograph and where he is doing that now.

I will be back tomorrow with another themed series of my own. Hope you enjoy Rick’s work and I need to get to chopping some veggies for some nice warm comfort soup for dinner.

  1. Many many thanks Terri for reposting my blog on Weather Photograph here at Zion National Park. Unlike the weather you’re experiencing in Ohio this area of Utah has been a magical place where the light in front of the camera dances across the landscape. The weather too has proven exceptional, feeling more like Spring than Winter. Thank you too for the weather report from home since I’ll be returning to Columbus tomorrow and had absolutely no idea that Winter was back. I guess I should have packed some gloves 🙂

    • How fortunate you have been to be there and to see all it’s wonders. Looking forward to more pictures from your trip and the weather here? They keep changing it. Now the snow is only 4-6 inches (maybe) depending on where you live. But it will be lows single digit and high around 20 tomorrow. Have a safe trip back 🙂
