Back in the U.K. – A proper breakfast

What do I miss most about the food I had in England?  Well besides the excellent hard ciders, the scones with their clotted cream and jam, and almost any Cornish pasty…I miss their streaky bacon which came with every full breakfast you would order.  Oh that bacon! Seriously, bacon lovers dreams are made of this.   I haven’t been able to find anything close to it here in the states sadly…sigh.  But here you have a proper breakfast with eggs, thick toast, the streaky bacon, sausages, grilled tomato, tea (we had a pot of herbal tea that day), and baked beans.

I still can’t get with the baked beans on toast for breakfast thing and don’t even mention the black pudding to me.  Wrinkles up nose…

That’s quite a spread for breakfast!

I loved the beans with breakfast, but couldn’t stomach the black pudding. Now that’s a meal that sticks to the ribs!

YUM!!! It’s been awhile since I’ve been to England, but I remember the food, too. I don’t know why English food sometimes gets a bad rap. Scones…thick toast…bacon…what’s not to love?!? –Lisa

Them is good eatin’! Now, I don’t hold with beans for breakfast, and I have no real notion of what “black pudding” might be. But eggs, bacon, toast . . . Well, give me some biscuits and gravy, throw in some eggs sunny side up, some bacon, maybe some sausage, a cup of coffee that talks back to you: that’s this ol’ hillbilly’s idea of a good breakfast!

    • I don’t think you want to know what black pudding is…but you would love that bacon and those sausages. No wimpy little link sausages here, no no no. Big ones or bangers as they call them.

I, too, love a proper English breakfast and made sure I treated myself to one every day I was in London. Mmmm

  6. oh my oh my…I would be in 7th heaven after a meal like this – or asleep on the sofa!
