Melt Bar and Grilled

If you have one of these in your town or not too far away a drive  – go!  We had heard about this place and at first I thought that a fancy grilled cheese sandwich joint was just something too trendy for me.  But while walking around the Short North area of Columbus, Ohio and being rather peckish, we decided to investigate this place.  We went in, we saw the line for a table, we walked out.  Then DH says to me “Hey! Maybe we can get a seat at the bar.” Which is what we got when we walked back in.  There’s just something so much fun about eating at the bar in a restaurant that has one.  You usually get faster service, your drinks get refilled quicker, and you meet the most interesting people.

The menu here has all kinds of goodies; not just grilled cheeses, the staff is friendly, and you will happily waddle out after eating.  The decor is just wild and kitschy which is kind of nice.  DH ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich (huge and so filling he took half of it home for later) and I had the Mushroom Melt.  I actually finished mine which meant I had to have a serious after lunch constitutional.  The nice couple who sat next to us at the bar let me photograph them enjoying their meal after I explained to them that I was a photographer as I had my camera out and was snapping away.

Thanks you two, it was a pleasure meeting you.

Oh yum. Your photography does it every bit of justice!

Every now and then, I miss sandwiches and over-excess like this in Norway … but I over-indulge when I’m back visiting family in the States to make up for it. 🙂

Thanks for sharing these yummy looking photos!

  2. One just opened in our local city, though we’ve not ventured there yet. I did get to try out the Gyro-Spot this past weekend. Another great speciality. Great post.

Delish…..I’ll need to Google and see if they have one in Denver or Phoenix 🙂

Not in my town, but I wish they were! It looks delicious. Maybe, just maybe, they will keep moving west! 🙂
