Life in front of art…

It was while walking along High Street in downtown Columbus, Ohio admiring the wall art that is on display throughout the area that I saw this gentleman taking a nap in front of a new work of art.  By new I mean the bench and the wall are old (I have a photo of me sitting on the same bench in front of a different art panel) but the current piece of art on display is different from the last time I was there.  The art is by Tom Baillileul and is titled “The City of Columbus”.  Very appropriate, huh?

At first I was a bit disappointed because I wanted to just photograph the wall art but then I “saw” the juxtaposition and went ahead and took the shot.

    Great photo 😀

  2. The napping man adds up the photo… Good timing and nice color composition!

  3. What a hoot that you captured this man sleeping in front of this piece of art.

  4. It looks likie it may land on his chest. Sometimes, you just have to go with it and end up with a stronger shot.

I love this – a definite contest submission piece of work!!!!

Really nice juxtaposition. I like the idea of art paintings on the wall. Do they change it every now and then, or is it permanent?

    • I’m not sure what it is but the art is on some sort of vinyl (maybe) medium like a giant decal that they switch out periodically. Although in some parts of the area the art was painted directly onto the bricks.

Excellent. The mural alone would be all right, but the addition of the snoozer elevates the image significantly.
