At first glance you might think that I used the tungsten white balance setting by accident (or deliberately) but it was neither. Shooting in raw, I had the camera set to auto white balance which I often do because it lets me adjust the white balance to my liking in editing later. After I uploaded the image I noticed all of these humans in Times Square had a bluish cast to them and then I remembered what happened! There was a giant screen behind me that was changing colors and just at the moment this shot was taken the screen changed to the color blue…turning everyone into Smurfs.
