Out in the desert in Nevada hiking along discovery all the wonders that were to be discovered in Valley of Fire State Park and there up ahead over the crest of this hill was the moon out in the afternoon. The sun and the moon had their chance to meet and I had the chance to capture the beauty of that moment; a moment not spoiled by the encroachment of man and his noisy cars, airplanes, helicopters, mobile phones, or chatter as we were on this trail alone.
It was the most beautiful silence.
Nice shot. What a beautiful sky!
Thanks. The day just wasn’t long enough!
Great shot of the moon in the day sky! That is what I love about the desert… Beautiful blue sky at day and starry, starry at night! And both are peaceful and serene!
Aren’t they though! 🙂
I’m very partial to Western landscapes.
I do enjoy them so.
We are heading Westward this Summer for family and vacation…your shots have whet my appetite for the trip.
Try not to get overheated out there in the summer and I’m already trying to figure out when we can go back 🙂
Only once have we been caught without adequate water for our hike and that event is NOT to be repeated!
Teri – I really like this. The outcropping of rock and the moon really balance each other. 🙂
Thank you. I did more moon desert shots the entire day.
Great shot and color composition! A perfect place for serenity 🙂
Great to see you back and yes it was 🙂
Perfect shot, and your description of the serenity of the moment enhances it!
Thanks. I want to go back and stay longer.
