This old house sits on a short little side street in the old downtown part of Powell, Ohio. How long it’s been there or if it is completely abandoned or not is anyone’s guess. There aren’t that many homes on this little street with most of them having been occupied for a long time or recently rehabbed with new residents. This house has looked more or less like this, a home in the grips of some very large trees and greenery, for a few of years now.
I was only able to see three sides of it due to the wet ground, fencing, dense greenery and the discomfort of the aforementioned little flying blood suckers. It had quite a lot of trash cans that didn’t seem to be filled with anything other than rain water and whatever that tank thing is.
Plus a lot of old rusty paint cans and other bits and pieces of life including a very interesting downspout system and plant life growing on the house. An interesting thing that I did notice, every window of this house had window treatments that while perhaps not in top condition, did prevent “eyes” from peering in.
Is this abandoned or just a bit ignored? I didn’t attempt to get too close just in case… but it would’ve been interesting to see what the inside was like.
(photos taken July 2015)
I hope abandoned and not ignored…I dare to imagine what the inside looks like.
Who knows! I will have to dig in my files to find the photo I took of the door some years ago to see the change…if any.
I don’t think it gets ignored…it looks to fresh. A mystery….You could put out one of those motion sensor game cameras and see if anyone shows up…that is not too disturbing, is it?
It is a mystery isn’t it?
With so may plants living on the roof, I think there may be some moisture problems inside. Too much and maybe a swamp thing family has moved in. Bring a clumsy friend along if you do decide to go inside. His/her tripping will give you a chance to run away, if needed.
I like the way you think! 🙂
I think the tank thing is for heating oil..
Proving it is or was an old home! Thanks
I lived in a 1980’s house with oil fired central heating, so could be younger than you think 😀
I love old houses like that.. c
It’s neighbor two doors up has been rehabbed and is adorable. t
