Same barn, same golden hour, different side

There is so much character to this barn that I want to share all sides of it with you especially since I saw a truck and a construction guy on the property the other day.  I fear it may not be there too much longer.

Sad to see old things get discarded/neglected. The golden light is beautiful.

  2. Beautiful lighting, Teri!

Old and broken down has a lot of character. I remember when I was getting ready to demolish the old houses on my property in 2012, some one in Australia started a “save the casita” campaign. The casita looked cute, but it was originally a got shed turned into a little house. No foundation, structurally not sound. It had been a little house for over 50 years and a goat shed for about 40 years before that, and it wasn’t worth saving. But it was photogenic for sure.

    • Do you have any pictures of it? It must’ve been interesting to get a campaign started for it. Yep! Old and broken down has character…and are characters 😉

      • Timothy Price says:

The campaign was on a friend’s Facebook. She had posted photos of the casita and everyone thought it was so cute. There’s a whole series about the preparation for and demolition of the houses on my blog in August 2012 including a video of the demise of the casita.

      • Do you have any links to it?

      • Timothy Price says:

You can search for casita or demolition or click on the gear in the upper right hand corner of the page and it will open and you will see an archive list. Go to August 2012.

      • So that’s the casita! Do you still have the guard spider or one of his decendants?

      • Timothy Price says:

We have lots of guard spiders. Laurie even has a Black Widow guarding her study — nobody messes with her research. I changed to a bigger coffee cup recently, so my crane cup is hanging out in the cupboard these days.

      • Black Widow???? Oh heck no!!!

      • Timothy Price says:

We love black widows. They take care of all kinds of other pests we don’t like. We normally put them back outside when we find them inside, but Laurie said this one scrambles in to a little crack, so she hasn’t been able to catch her to put her outside.

  4. Nice – I love the warm light on it. You don’t want to buy and restore it?

Love this, love it, and I love it even more today!

Golden light is the best light and this photo is proof. I doubt if the old barn will see another spring. Such a shame.
