This was going to be a wordless Wednesday post but then I realized not everyone is a Whovian – you poor things 🙂 There is always a Doctor Who contingency at each and every comic-con no matter where it is and this one had a Tardis with a Weeping Angel in front. Huh I hear you say?
“Doctor Who is a British science-fiction television programme produced by the BBC since 1963. The programme depicts the adventures of the Doctor, a Time Lord—a space and time-travelling humanoid alien. wikipedia”
The Weeping Angels have been persistently nominated as one of the most popular and frightening monsters in the Doctor Who universe; while the Daleks are nothing to sneeze at when it comes to terrors of the universe, these creatures are just creepy. In essence, they look like normal(ish) stone statues of angels like we see almost anywhere but in reality they are a race of predatory creatures old as the universe, no one knows where they come from, that basically kill you kindly. As long as you don’t blink and keep your gaze upon them until you are far enough away from them (they move incredibly fast) they remain stone. Blink and they advance upon you until they can touch you. Once touched, well, say goodbye to your present! They live off the energy of your potential life span in the present as you live out your days unharmed – other than shocked at not being where you once were – in some past timeline before you were born.
Or as the Doctor has said “The Angels are the only psychopaths in the universe to kill you nicely.” Oh those wild and crazy psychopaths!
It almost looks like a statue…Cool costume
It is a statue…at least I think it was. Uh oh!
“Killing me softly” without love! I’ve heard of Dr Who, but I have not seen the show, so I’m not familiar with weeping Angels.
Trust me! After seeing the episode where they were introduced you will not look at statues the same anymore. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByPrDPbdRhc
That’s pretty good. I looked up the Dr Who Wiki. I see they are on the 12th Dr Who.
That they are!
This is awesome!
Thanks 🙂
My son is a big Dr. Who fan. Just found an old vintage comic book of Dr. Who. He framed it!
Awesome! I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before but I’ve met two doctors and three companions 🙂
One of my top five episodes BTW…and the Docotr and Martha are barely in it…
Very true and it was interesting that they were not the center of the episode but we all know time is wibbley wobbley 😉
Timey-winey
Timey wimey wibbly wobbley……….. very scientific don’t you know 😉
BTW – What are your other 4 episodes?
Silence in the Library (Forrest of the Dead), Talons of Weng-Chiang, Waters of Mars, Amy’s Choice
Interesting choices mine are – Don’t Blink, Vincent and the Doctor (I tear up every single time) , Journeys End, Dalek, Pyramids of Mars. I do like the 50th anniversary one too.
I agree on 50th, but I did not include specials/Christmas editions in my list…I do the same with Amy’s Choice, when Amy tells the Doctor life just isn’t worth living without Rory…(get out the Kleenex)
Stupid face was her sweetie 🙂
I had to read the comments to learn whether this angel was a person or mannequin. Either way, very nicely done!
I think it was a mannequin.
