I was this close to dubbing this post “hooters” but I couldn’t bring myself to do it 🙂 This was the first time I have ever witnessed an owl butterfly with it’s wings open. Who knew the little hoots had such colorful upper wings!

Pretty awesome.
Thank you. It is quite different isn’t it?
It is. I’ve never seen one quite like it. Your shot is a treat and captures an always fascinating world.
Thank you. I enjoy the thrill of discovery with new species and new “poses” for ones I’ve seen before.
Wow! That is really dramatic. Nice!
I’ve seen owls before but never this side of them which is quite different! Thanks.
Those two are a real hootenanny! They have quite a colorful display on the backs of their wings. Beautiful photo.
Thanks. I guess they evolved the big eyes underneath to prevent getting chomped since their tops are so colorful.
Great capture!
Thanks!
Wonderfully done!

Thank you 🙂
What a surprise! I wonder what role that coloring played in natural selection?
No idea but I know what the underside is for!
I love the beautiful Royal Blue wings which as you know is my favorite color!
Glad you liked. Never knew the little bugger was so colorful 🙂
Beautiful. They look like they’re pretty big butterflies.
They are! Thanks…
