Name this butterfly

I’ve tried looking it up but have so far failed to identify it.  Great camouflage technique of resembling a dead leaf when the wings are closed.  Take a closer look at the second photo. Do you see that its tongue is almost the same color as the smaller spots on its wings?

That’s interesting.

Awesome captures! 🙂 I’m no good at butterflies, but I do enjoy the wonderful creatures. Amazing, how the first one resembles a leaf. Have a great weekend! x

Wish i could help, but the Monarch is about the only one I know by name.

  3. I’m no help either. Nice job getting the shots though. Usually, I get everything perfect and then away they go. Architractural shots don’t have that problem. Cheers!

  4. The first one is very interesting. Sure does look like a dead leaf.
