The first Saturday of each month the Short North Art District in Columbus, Ohio hosts a gallery hop which attracts thousands of visitors. Not only is there art to see and buy but also eats, drinks and entertainment. I’ve never been to one before but I’m planning on this August 4th being my first.
The original works of art are in the host galleries while all along and next to High Street are these high resolution images printed on vinyl and heat adhered to the sides of buildings. This mural series is part of a city wide celebration of the the 100th anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance by the Columbus Black art community with established and upcoming Black artist’s works.
These are five of the murals; there is a total of twelve. I’ve met the artist Terry Norman already and hope to see and meet the rest at the hop.
