Located on a hill north of Oban, Scotland (and pretty much just up the road from our hotel that overlooked the harbor in Oban) is a small castle ruin with a very good view – Dunollie Castle.
We had just finished stuffing ourselves with some fantastic fresh seafood and were walking along the harbour taking in the magnificent 22:00 Scottish sunset when I saw the castle tower peeking out above the trees. This was as close as we got to it; we had to be someplace else the next morning. If I had known how close it was to town we would’ve visited it earlier in the day.
That sunset though… 🙂

Very picturesque. I’m sure it offers great views, but your view from here is beautiful. Love 22:00 sunsets, too. 🙂
Thank you. For the first night in Scotland it was a perfect choice. I’ve read that it is now 20 degrees cooler now than when I took this photo.
Nice sunset shot.
Thanks, Tim.
Absolutely beautiful photo! Thank you for sharing!
The photo doesn’t do it full justice. It was stunning. Thanks 🙂
Love the mood of this photograph!
Thanks. I really wanted to just sit there and take it all in it was so amazing for my first night ever in Scotland but I forced myself to use my camera 😉
