In Edinburgh, Scotland around the Royal Mile. It looks and is much more quiet than when the rest of the city is up and about which would be in just a few hours. But it was the right time for this photographer this past June.

It’s good to be up early to feel the ambience and enjoy the city as it wakes up, without the crowds. Although I now need to plan ahead and go to bed early if I want to get up as early as you have!
Going to bed earlier never quite works for me so I set an alarm, hit the bricks and go shoot. Then it’s breakfast and a nap 😉 Seeing the city without being elbow to elbow with people was wonderful!
I can imagine.
PS I need some help. I made a post 2 hours ago but it doesn’t appear in my own WP Reader. Can you tell me if it is showing up in your Reader. I may have to relaunch it. Thanks.
About the floating Dutchman? Just commented on it.
Thanks. It’s strange but my own post doesn’t appear in my Reader and others have reported the same problem recently. One of those things, I guess.
I blame the gremlins and politicians – they are always mucking up stuff 😉 Question for you: Do you plan all of your adventures or do you have an agency or someone else cause when the dragon travels he does a fantastic job of it!
Mostly I plan my own trips but when I go to a new city I do google photo tours and look out for photographers who offer a 4 hour photography tour, or else I read photography tour itineraries and “borrow” locations to wander and shoot.
I also google photos from places I’m going to to get ideas/inspiration.
I did that for my trip to Scotland and still messed up a few places because I was so excited but I’ve never done a photo tour before. How do you find those?
Whoops! You already stated you google photo tours. See what happens before coffee 🙂
I miss the early sunrises.
They are nice aren’t they.
You are up early to capture these pristine shots! So lovely!☺
Thank you and it was worth it to get up so early for all of this quiet scenery in a very busy area.
Good job and sacrifice for our feast for the eyes…😀
It is so worth dragging oneself out of bed early to enjoy these beautiful places in solitude. Kudos!
Thanks 🙂 When I first headed out it was surreal compared to what it was like the day before. It was great!
I’ve always wanted to go to Scotland and your photos certainly helped encourage that desire. Unfortunately, WW does not want to go there. Thinks it will be raining all the time. Looks like I still have my work cut out for me. Sigh.
It is a stunning country and it doesn’t rain all the time as you can see from my photos. Just show him these for an extra nudge. And they do make raincoats and wellies yanno 😉
