Sometimes you go into training to get those early morning deals. But in reality I took this skyline shot every day and every night I was in the area. I was cold and had numb fingers but it was worth it!

Nice skyline.
It’s gorgeous and I photographed it at various times of the day in different weather conditions.
You should make a series out of it.
Now there’s an idea!
Beautiful shot! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you 🙂
Do you mind if I ask you what lens and camera settings you used on this photo, please?
You can always ask me about camera stuff, Mickey 🙂 I had a 24-105mm F.4 lens which was at 35mm for this shot. Aperture priority with ISO100, 1/320, shot wide at F4. I used auto focus and waited until he jogged right into the frame.
Very nice! Thank you, Teri! Rookie question… you used an F4 stop. With a distance of how far you were, why not use an F of 8 or 11?? My understanding is the higher (F4) the stop, the more “blurred” your background will be. Thank you for your insight!
Get yourself a DOF (depth of field) calculator. It will show you what will be in focus based upon what camera, lens, Fstop and distance away your subject is. They are free online and on phones. Because I needed a bit more light in I shot wide and as I was a long ways away from my subject (the skyline) it was in focus. Drop me an email for more on this 🙂
Thank you!
