The number and species of birds that visited the pier each day was amazing. What was also amazing was how close they would get to or fly over humans… really really close especially if you were fishing from the pier or were eating something.
I’ve seen Hitchcock’s The Birds and I’ve been “cautious” around birds ever since!

Beautiful shot, Teri! Thank you for sharing!
Such a blessing to have such great variety in your back yard.
Wish it was my back yard but alas it was in the back yard of the rental we had in California.
I remembering Hitchcock’s Birds…scary!! Now that bird (*gull I guess) looks a tad unhappy!
The gulls scare me but this sullen guy is an egret.
He does look it and it looks like he is saying “bugger off”😆
Pretty bird… but they will steal!
My son was 4 years old fishing off a pier. He caught one and was reeling it in. But half way up … an egret flew in and stole it right off his hook.
We laughed for hours and so did my little guy! Who is now 30!
I’ve seen the Hitchcock movie and I don’t trust any of them! Hope your son was able to catch another fish.
