Throughout the world there are many street art/wall mural displays which have been founded by their local artist community and even commissioned by the cities they reside in. These areas are often listed and promoted as tourist sites and the works are absolutely astonishing. To me it’s hard enough to try and draw something on a regular sized sheet of paper but to take that and transform it into a work of art that is on the side of a two story building? Major talent and dedication!
Here are two areas that I’ve been to and their amazing wall mural trails: Murals of Phoenix and Murals in Oceanside. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to stop and take any photos of the ones in Phoenix but hope to when I return and there is a fantastic trail in Glasgow, Scotland that I missed by taking a different motorway on our road trip.
If you love art but maybe art museums aren’t your thing, then try checking out the street art in your city or a city you visit. There is some amazing talent out there in the world and to see it on such a large scale is pretty fantastic! Does your city have a wall mural trail or display or have you visited an area with one that you thought was very good? Please share it with us in the comments below.

One from Columbus, Ohio
Two from New York City at the World Trade Center.
And three from Oceanside, California
Nice mural work.
Amazing artists they are. Thanks, Tim.
They are beautiful but I think those eyes might freak me out late at night – or after a few pints.
You? Pub hop? 🙂
Same here, I’m in awe of the talent of these guys and gals.
Such amazing talent!
We’ve seen some amazing ones in Cincinnati last year.
I must put that on my list to do as I live only 1.5 hours away.
Incredible!
You should see the David Bowie tribute one in Phoenix!
Where is it?
Click on the link in my post Murals of Phoenix and it will show where they all are.
Thank you my friend!
De nada, amiga mia 🙂 Hope you find it.
These are fabulous! A memorable one i’ve seen is along the Mississippi River in Cape Giradeau, Missouri depicting the history of the town.
Cool! I prefer the ones that are purely art from the mind of the artist.
In and around Columbus I always thought when paintings showed up on the sides of buildings the neighborhood has gone to crap (Franklinton/The Bottoms) that is until I was asked to do one. 😦
Whoa! Did you paint something here in Franklinton? It’s changed a lot probably since you were here. It’s a bit of an artist hangout now. Just did a photo shoot there this past Saturday.
Geesh, I never get notifications from WordPress. Sorry for the late reply. I haven’t been there in six years. I received an email asking if I’d be interested in showing my drawings and if I’d be interested in doing one on a wall. He said there’s one in Hilliard too. I recently found out there’s a new place that has open mic nights and lets people display their work in the Westgate/Franklinton area. I never replied but probably wouldn’t anyway.
You should see the amount of murals around here now. Thanks for replying.
Nice!
Thanks 🙂
