The calendar has announced that here in this hemisphere we have just entered the season of fall. But as we all know, no matter what the calendars say, nature may and often says something different. Nature has been known to toy with us mere humans and throw different seasons at us all in a matter of days… or hours even so overlapping shouldn’t come as any surprise.
Here in Ohio, the leaves have begun to change color (entirely too early I think) and drop from the trees but yet there are still flowers blooming and bees and butterflies going about their days while squirrels are busy socking food away for the long haul.
Squirrel in a tree with changing leaves chattering away at me.
A honey bee gathering pollen.
A butterfly and just barely noticeable above him in a flower, another honey bee.
Queen Anne’s Lace or wild carrot or whatever you may call it.
While it’s nice to see both seasons at one time it’s only a matter of time before the former fully gives up it’s time to the latter. How is whatever your current season is looking in your area?

here in SoCal we are still having 90+ degree weather and many insects, animals and plants are still in full steam ahead mode rather than time to slow down mode.
I’m about ready for 70’s and 60’s weather with less annoying insects (I like the bees and butterflies) and my garden is still going flat out so…….it is what it is 🙂
Lovely my friend!
It’s about the same here in Pennsylvania… but soon the trek to AZ will begin. The temps there are in the 90’s which is tolerable.
Thank you 🙂 Tolerable??? Well I suppose considering the way the temps have been.
As long as it doesn’t rain… 90’s in the arid desert is not like the 90’s in Ohio. So I actually like the low 90’s in the desert.
The possum saw his shadow in the heat rising off the pavement by his den – so we’ve got 12 more weeks of summer.
LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!
Cute Squirrel Nutkin you got there. We’re starting to have cooler temperatures with fading flowers and leaves starting to turn yellow.
Thanks, Tim.
You captured the season beautifully. I hope all is well. Cheers!
All has been a bit wired… no! A lot wired but manage we will. How’s by you?
Things are well here. I’m busy with classes resuming this month. Cheers!
Lovely post Terri. We’re seeing similar conditions here in Ontario.
Thank you, Belinda. I hope this doesn’t mean a harsh “W” season!
We’ve got complete overlap here in PA- crunchy colorful leaves and intense heat! I hate to say I’m ready for it to cool off, but I think I am.
Me too! I have sweatshirts calling my name 🙂
