A hot orchid on a cold day

Definitely a respite from the cold, snow, rain, ice and gloom is the orchid show at the Franklin Park Conservatory here in Columbus, Ohio.  A visit here lifts ones winter spirits until you put your layers back on and head out to your car in the parking lot; it is winter after all here.

While visiting here it is a wonderful stroll through some amazing beauty that comes in so many shapes, colors and fragrances.  Everyone loves the orchids that smell like chocolate for some reason.  I wonder why? And yes! That was a wee bit of sarcasm.

This vibrant beauty is an oncostele orchid – Firecat ‘Kingsnake’ an interesting name don’t you think?
