Well this is a Mother’s Day for the books. Unless you are living with your mother or you live in an area where the quarantine has been lifted, your interaction with mom today may be distanced. If you are or have a special mom, step-mom, mommy, momma, mama, maman, abuelita, bunica, grand – mere, oma, bubbe, nana (my oldest grandson calls me Nana banana – I’m going to have to have words with him!) gammy, grandma, granny… I hope you have a wonderful day however that day may have to occur.
If like me your mother is no longer with you then I hope you have some good memories to see you through the day. Sadly for me, my memories of my mother are clouded by her last decade of life taken over by Alzheimer’s. I dealt with the stress of being a mother to my own children and a “mother” to her at the same time. Sandwich generation is no joke! There are some good memories, I just have to push past the last difficult ones to get to them.
Today DH will be cooking dinner as the restaurants aren’t open here yet and I will be talking to the kids via Zoom. Ahhhh modern technology; thankful for it but nothing tops being together for the hugs and kisses… and general mayhem.

I did not know your mum suffered from Alzheimer’s! It must be very tough on you and I am feeling the stress as my dad degenerates into dementia. I am now a “parent”to 2 oldies and it is tough. It’s not easy being a parent to ones parents but it’s something many of us do/have done. Nana’s little nugget here is quite the busy thing now, thank you. Hope you have a good day with your mother 🙂
