We went to a different birding spot and while it was very chilly and windy (to the point even the birds were having a rough go of it) it was worthwhile because another adult bald eagle flew a bit closer for my 560mm reach!
They are such amazing birds. Did you know that they grow into their white plumage? As juveniles they are all a dark brown and if you aren’t too sure about what you just saw zipping past you in the sky they can be confused for a hawk. Well, at least that was my experience until I learned how to differentiate the species. It still gets tricky sometimes.
And that announcement? Yesterday I learned that I was awarded an Art Unites Cbus Photography and Film award from the Greater Columbus Arts Council for my documentary photos of the Black Lives Matter protests. Three awards were given to artists making short films and nine awards were given to photographers. I’m so thrilled!
