We interrupt your regularly scheduled post….

For this big (well, big to me anyway) news!  I was going to wait till I had more than one image edited but I was just so excited to share this.  After a couple of years of wanting to photograph one of these birds I hit the jackpot by being in the right spot at the right time to capture two males and two females together.

At last, I have the elusive male wood duck!   More images later.  It really is odd seeing ducks in trees.

I know there are wood ducks in our general area, but I’ve never seen one. I’m excited for you — it’s always great to finally find something we’ve been hoping to see.

    Great! You were really lucky!

  3. Great line-up!
I once saw one fly into its nest IN the trunk of a tree! First I’d ever seen.

Not much duck distancing going on there.

Yay!!! I was confident that I would see them soon 🙂 now for the closeups…

    • Thanks! Closeups will be relative as they were all on the opposite side of a pond and even that was far for my zoom lens. But there will be a couple of cropped images that will be a bit closer 🙂

  6. Good job getting them to post like that.

  7. Nancy says:

    Woo Hoo! Happy for you!

That is a beautiful image of the four ducks, Teri!
