While all around them the “hoomans” were enjoying their 4th of July Doo Dah celebrations in the park, this mallard family swam contentedly in the pond. Mr. and Mrs. Mallard kept a watchful eye on Junior who had the tendency to paddle off on his own.

Mallards usually have a bigger brood in tow. Glad to see at least one left! 🙂
It’s been interesting to see the variances in broods. One will be quite full and then another in the same pond be just one or two.
Naughty little junior, like most juniors are! They enjoy the real independence every day of their lives 😀

I love ducks. I remember once a few years ago we had a family of gadwalls living near me. They look almost the same as “normal” ducks, but behave differently. they’re much shyer and will dive down and disappear if you go anywhere close. I love ducks👍❣️‼️❓⁉️🦆🦢
