Busy! Very busy. There was travel to a place that was familiar, a place that I hadn’t been to since I was a child and to a place I’d never been before…but want to go back! And of course, after the traveling there was catching up on things like laundry (funny how there’s a lot of laundry sometimes after traveling) emails, work, the grocery store – the usuals. Plus, uploading and trying to get to editing photos.
And then there was Mother’s Day and an anniversary and some other local travel.
So yes! I’m a bit tired and busy playing catch up with many things. But back to the travel I want to share with you. We visited Arizona again (familiar part) to check on DH’s mother and then we hit the highway south towards Tucson. A place I have not visited since I was a child but we didn’t do anything in the city other than eat and sleep. We were there to visit Saguaro National Park.
The last time I was here I was in the back seat of my parents Ford Fairlane and thought the cactus surely must have been giants touching the sky. It was the first time this midwestern girl had ever seen a cactus in its natural habitat. It was also the first time I had ever seen a roadrunner and let me tell you, I was so bummed it did not look anything like what Wylie Coyote chased on my Saturday morning cartoons!
I also learned that the park is split into two sections: west and east. And while they both have cactus; the west has the most and more mountains while the east has fewer cactus and is a bit flatter. We visited both sides.
We hiked, we photographed birds, flowers, lizards, the cactus (of course) and sunsets. It was hot and dusty but beautiful.
Me hiking a trail in the western side of the park.

Getting a twofer here with a bird (Curved billed Thrasher) and a Saguaro cactus in bloom. There was something tasty in that flower this bird was enjoying.

Stay tuned for more adventures from Arizona.

Love the bird on the cactus! Looking forward to reading about the rest of your travels!
Thanks! I hope you enjoy the rest of the travel tales 🙂
Yes, life can get crazy busy. Hope things are settling down for you. Love the pic of you walking the trail. It really gives scale to the giant saguaro.
And I didn’t get poked once by one…oh wait! I think I did back into one once but that was at dusk and I was trying not to fall off the rocks LOL
Travelling is good for the soul! And I also love the bird on a cactus!
Thanks, miss c! And traveling to be out in nature is even better for the soul.
Yes!! For sure!
Traveling can make one get crazy busy.
I’m so glad you enjoyed Tuscon.
Love both pictures!
Welcome home!
