With or without you…

The you being color.  In the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas they have a Chihuly glass flower display in the ceiling right outside of the front desks.  Sometimes that area can be a zoo as there are those trying to check in, check out and check out the ceiling.  I’ve seen so many of Chihuly’s glass works but this one has always been my favorite.  But I decided to not only share this image with you in color but to show you how “different” it looks in black and white.

While I personally prefer the original bright colors, the monochrome one has a certain something about it as well.  Just can’t quite put the finger on it at the moment.

(If you haven’t done so already, don’t forget to enter my giveaway for a Black Rapid Camera Strap here . Thanks)

I have to agree… even though I don’t want to, you know that I love colour…. but the B&W does have something beautiful about it…

Thanks 🙂 But I still cannot put my finger on what it is about the image. Reminds me of something deep under the sea.

It has a typical mysticism look about it … a kind of punchy look

Interesting isn’t it how an image can be different things when processed different ways.

You are so right… I did a short period of doing the B&W thing of non animal photos I had taken and often I was surprised at the results… funny in the olden days all we had was B&W, funny how we forget that fact…

Some things are never completely out of style 🙂

Love both of these images but the black and white wins me over.

Why is that and thanks. Seeing his work without all of his usual bright colors is different.

I like the black and white because I love the textures over the colour. I have seen a lot of colour images that look similar (although not this particular design), and it is fresh seeing it in monochrome.

I’m with you – I’ve seen quite a few of Chihuly’s works and this one remains my favorite.
