This guy (I think it is a male) is the black Atrophaneura Varuna or Batwing Butterfly; a member of the swallowtail family sans the tail. Of all the butterflies at the wonderland, this one stood out the most!

Great shot! He’s a beauty!
Thanks, he did stand out from the crowd.
Wow, significant and very beautiful! 🙂
Thank you 🙂
Lovely color on that one.
And I used to think the Blue Morpho had the best colors till I saw batty here.
Wow, such a unique color combination – I am sure the birds are attracted to them as well….
Who knows! This might be a warning color to birds.
Wow! Incredible! Putting that place on my photo-bucket list!
It’s a bit pricey to get in and is attached to an aquarium but it’s a nice spot to see and photo!
If yu value your sanity NEVER watch the movie The Wild World of Batwoman…
The title alone scares me….
Talk about *velvety*!! Whoa.
xo
Yep!
Had no idea such a butterfly existed and your photo sent me to google to find our where it’s from. What a beauty!
Thanks. I just had a load of fun saying “I’m Batwing!” lol
