For several years, when I was a child, Valentine’s day meant that mom would get her favorite box of chocolates from Mavrakos and I would get this red heart shaped lollipop. It meant the world to me because it made me feel special and just a bit grown up.
One of the last times that I can remember getting a Valentine’s day present from dad was when I was maybe around 11 or 12 years old. Mom got her chocolates but because I was “older” he got me this funny little tin of perfume. It was made for little girls; a little round tin of wax that smelled good.
Racing through the years to the present, there have been innumerable cards, jewelry, teddy bears, dinners out and of course flowers. Today I am quite content with a card (and it doesn’t even have to be all mushy either) a few flowers and each others company minus the crowds in a restaurant.
We might cook a meal together or bring home take out. Either way it will be our way to celebrate another day as us.
Happy Valentine’s Day, DH ♥ And Happy Valentine’s Day to you all.
DH was going to sing this to me at our wedding but the church said it was too secular. So he sang it to me later on an anniversary.
Sweet memories in the Valentine’s Day! Happy Valentine’s Day <3!!
Thank you and Happy Valentine’s Day to you too 🙂
Lovely post!
Thank you 🙂
That’s what life is made of – awesome memories like that. It’s a special day for mom/dad. They got engaged on Valentine’s Day. So they always have a special dinner together – just the two of them. XOXO – Bacon
Hopefully they brought you back a lil piggy leftover box 🙂
A small one they did. And it was yummy! XOXO – Bacon
Such nice memories. Cheers!
Thank you 🙂
