Aren’t trees supposed to do this sort of seed thing in the spring? This was taken on the first day of fall while I was sitting on the curb of a parking lot underneath the tree. I had taken some shots straight on but didn’t like them. This one taken shooting straight up I thought was better.

Me likey, It’s pretty.
Thankey 🙂 Have you seen the shoes on the other side of the blog fence? 😉
This is odd, beautiful, but odd. Like you, I wouldn’t expect a tree to be blooming now. I wonder if the heat wave affected its timing. Well, regardless, it was a great find and shot, Teri. Do go back there next year and see if this was a fluke or not. Thank you.
Well if we are still living in this area I will but I’ve got sad news for you. Your buddy, Ocular, I think they cut him down 😦 I went looking for him and couldn’t find him. They were building in the area so….maybe he walked away?
I’ll be on the look out for it. Chicago attracts wanders from all over Middle America and now that the lumber mills have closed down, more trees than ever are showing up here.
I like that photo… what tree is it.??
From the shape of the seeds I’m thinking some type of Maple tree. Not positive.
It’s always good to move around and get a new perspective on things. Love this shot.
Moving around is starting to become fun – and a bit adventurous! LOL
Cool shot Teri ! I like the blue sky in the background! Many species of trees put out their seeds at this time of year. (oaks-acorns, maple-winged seeds, beech-beechnuts, pine (pine and hemlock-cones,etc)
The seed pods in this photo do look like some sort of maple. The seeds have wings so they can fly away from the parent tree to perpetuate the species…maples produce a lot of shade so the wings assist in propelling the seeds far away.
Too bad about ocular…maybe he moved on to greener pastures. Hope so.
I’ve always loved the way these seeds would flutter around…until they clogged up the guttering. I do hope Ocular is someplace else creeping out new people.
