Traveling down a rural gravel road we pulled over for this abandoned place. I carefully walked back and forth to get as good a view as I could when it happened! Someone who lived a few hundred feet down the road had jumped into their pickup truck and drove up to ask me what I was doing there.
First time that’s ever happened! After getting over the initial shock I explained that I was a photographer and abandoned places were my thing. He seemed satisfied and turned around and went back home. That was my cue to pack it in and go straight home.
Yeah – That happens. We get people who stop to take photos of the yard sculptures I’ve made. My wife sometimes goes out and chats with them…but she is friendly. Also, we don’t have a dog…or a shotgun.
I’ve had tons of dogs bark at me but fortunately none of them got close enough to where I could see them. I judge my time left to shoot based upon how loud the barking gets.
Yep, you need to be very careful. Your photos are amazing but people are nuts these days. Guns horrify me because so many people who own them will shoot first and ask questions later.
I had hubs as backup and this guy just pulled up in his truck to question me. But yeah! It is nuts out there and thanks.
We are both profiling farms I guess.
Funny how the universe does that…
That has definitely happened to us quite a few times when we’re photographing abandoned places…some neighbors seem to just be really protective! Cool find though…the abandoned house looks really interesting!
